BOYD FAMILY CEMETERY
MARIETTA, CASS COUNTY, TEXAS
LOCATION; Travel approximately 3.8 miles east of Naples, TX on Hwy
77, turn north onto CR 2596, go .4 mile, at the Boyd Cemetery sign
go east .2 mile.
The cemetery is located on property belonging to Mabe Boyd. It is
thought this property was once owned by a Hambrick family.
This cemetery is known to be predominantly black.
Cemetery was read by Shirley Lemmon with information on those
interred here given by Louanna BOYD Fields Ruffin, b 05-APR-1894,
the daughter of Mabe Boyd and the only surviving direct decendant
of Mabe Boyd.
Cemetery was read north to south, beginning at the northwest
corner. -
The community school was named Celest. There was an average of 19
students and at times as many as 30.
The oldest known marked grave: ROW 1
