SHADY GROVE CEMETERY
QUEEN CITY, CASS COUNTY, TEXAS
LOCATION: From the intersection of Hwy 59 & CR 2791 in Queen City,
TX, go west on CR 2791 approx. 3.8 miles. Turn left on CR 3224, go
approx. 1.2 miles, cemetery will be on right. The older section of
the cemetery is on the north side of the church. The newer section
is on the south side of the church.
Shady Grove Cemetery is situated in the Robert M. Burton Survey,,
A-48, in Cass County, TX, and being the same land conveyed by deed
from C. M. Hunt and wife, to L. C. Callaway and Gude Hunt, »
Trustees of Colored Methodist Church in America dated 25-JAN—190O
and recorded in Vol. V-2, page 423. 1

This cemetery is known to be predominantly black.
This cemetery was read 14-JUN-1995 by Harriett DeLaughter, Melba
Tims, Irene Powell, Kathryn McAlexander and Lurlene Jones, a
member of Shady Grove Church. Cemetery was read from north to
south, beginning in the northeast corner of the old section.

Shady Grove C M E Church was established in 1872 and was rebuilt
in 1983.
